Join us on a ride to South Frontenac that will bring us to the popular Fantasy in the Forest Art Show. Fantasy in the Forest is a one-of-a-kind mixed-media art show and sale that takes place in a forest near Wilmer, Ontario just below Frontenac Provincial Park. Artists showcase their work in a truly unique and magical setting. Here is a link to the event itself if you would like to learn more.
Do bring cash if you have intensions of purchasing anything as there is no cell coverage there. Electronic transactions are not possible.
The ride will start at Tim Hortons (650 Eagleson Rd, Kanata), to Beckwith, then Perth. We will take the 10 out of Westport, though to Bedford Mills and Buck Lake. We get off the 10 at Wilmer Road to get to our destination at 1860 Draper Lake Road, South Frontenac, ON.
After visiting the show, we’ll take some scenic and windy roads circling around Frontenac Park. We head towards South Frontenac and then up Bedford Road (19) and then west on Desert Lake Road (also the 19) to Verona. In Godfrey, we head back east on the 8 all the way back to Westport. Instead of returning as we came, we'll head south on the 42 to Newboro to head to the Narrows Locks. From there, we’ll cut across Murphy’s Point Provincial Park, to Rideau Ferry, to Perth then back to Tim Hortons in Kanata.
The 1st half of the ride (to the art show) is 122 km and should take about 2 1/4 hrs. The intent is to get there around 10am when the show begins. We want to arrive early to park at the forest and not have to take a shuttle. The second half of the ride back to Kanata is 188km and will take approximately 3 ½.
Depending on how long we stay at the art show will dictate our return time to Kanata, but I would expect somewhere around 6:00 pm.
We will decide together where to snack along the way.
